Three Hot R'n'B Albums Reviewed

112 - Part III

This wuz the first R'n'B album in a long time that after hearing one song off it i had been really anticipating. After hearing Peaches & Cream and getting hooked on it, i wuz waiting for the album so i can hear some other trackz off it and maybe add it to my collection. So a month or so, we find Part III on my shelf between NWA and Prodigy. Though some people say they found this album a bit of a disappointment, i wuz pleased wit it. The first track is "Dance With Me" which frum the title you can guess, its one you'll probably be hearing in the clubs so you can, (surprise suprise), dance to. That's Then followed up by the lead off single which y'all probably heard by now, It's Over Now. I normally prefer my R'n'B upbeat, it takes a real good slow song for me to enjoy it, but this is just that. I think it might be the beat which reminds me of Mobb Deep's Quiet Storm (remix) but i just love this track. Track 4 is that track, Peaches & Cream. This is probably gon' be the R'n'B track for all fellaz this year. And the question which comes with it, "whut is the track about?!" well if you don't understand now, just don't bother. Possibly the stand out track for me though, is Don't Hate Me, this is a really strong track ny those modest 112 boyz, but the appearance by m'man, Twista makes it shine through. Part III of course has it's fair share of deep cuts, it's not all up-tempo cuts. Missing You and Sweet Love bring the strongest deep cuts. Any R'n'B fan will probably have copped this straight away, but this one should satsify all hip hop heads too

Ginuwine - The Life

The first thing that struck me about this album when reading about it, wuz that Timbaland, that man we used to find inseparable frum Ginuwine, produces just one track. I wasn't sure whether this was a good thing or not. It showed Ginuwine stretching his music wings, but would it be for the good, or would he crash and burn. I'm happy to say, it really does pay off, and this is probably Ginwuine's strongest album. When reading he wrote the tracks after being on the verge of quitting music after his mother's death, i thought we may find Ginwuine's tempo is slowed down and he concentrates on bringing us deep tracks. Two Reasons I Cry bring the deepest, the two reaons being "His Daddy and Momma are gone and he's all alone" After taking 1 minutes 45 seconds to get into the song, the opening cut, Why Not Me, is one of the strongest on the album, an up beat track which i wuz glad to hear after my thoughts it wuz gonna be all slow. He also does a track for all the people out there with a 2 Way, become a much as talked about subject in R'n'B and Hip Hop as ice and whips. On a few of the tracks, i think the producers have tried to copy some of Timbaland's style knowing how well it suited Ginuwine's voice. There It Is and So fine being 2 examples of the futuristic sound effects most likely to be found under a Timbaland credit. The track Timbaland does produceis one of the strongest, if not the strongest on the album. Ginuwine still seems better over a Timbo beat and Ludacris, who is gradually becoming the hottest property in rap after hooking up with Timbo on Fat Rabbit, lends a verse to this track. For all R'n'B fans, this is likely to be on you "to buy list" if it hasn't already found a place comfortably in ur collection And you won't be disappointed.

Destiny's Child - Survivor

Possibly one of the most anticipated R'n'B albums of all time, after riding high from their success of Writings on the Wall, with yet another line-up the DC gyrls return. After hearing the first single Survivor, and Independent Woman hitting number 1 in US and UK this new line-up of Beyonce, Kelly and Michelle were possibly going to be the best yet. The album starts off very promising with the two aforementioned cuts, and the third single Bootylicious. Another up-tempo track and it made a nice chnage to see Michelle given a whole verse. The following cut, Nasty, is another strong one, but it really contradicts themselves. "Nasty put some clothes on", yet (without complaing!) we regularly find the DC gyrls shakin their thang in scantily clad outfits. Never the less, the next track, "Fancy" again had me starting to think, frum whut i've heard, the DC gyrls have excelled themselves once again. Apple Pie A La Mode, follows, the title confuses me and the song itself, at first seems to be more like a sort of interlude. After the first chrous this changes however and is a good cut, but not as strong as the previous. Sexy Daddy is next and with opening "everyone get up and dance" you can tell it's gonna be another up-tempo one frum the gyrls, and it is that. We are then given Perfect Man which anyone who has the Romeo Must Die soundtrack will already have, and Independent Woman II which has one of the oddest beats i have ever heard. Happy Face is just that, a very happy track. It is another quite strange track, not sure which style the gyrls were going for. There is also a solo from Beyonce which she stretches her impressive vocals but i find it more to be Mariah Carey. same with the previous track, Dance With Me and a few other tracks afterwards. Adter a promisng start, it kinda fades into a much more poppy album which disappointed me. Most of you will have this album anyway, and for any of you who haven't, I'd probably still go and cop it.

Your Reviews
Due to me mostly buying hip hop albums, if you have recently copped an R'n'B album which i have not reviews, if you would like to do a review and send it to me it would be greatly appreciated. All credit will be given to you.
